The Edible Forest

Our Edible Forest, onsite at Yarra Valley Estate is the vision of owner, Louise Ward, as a garden lovers paradise.

A netted Food Forest where everything is planted for a reason; edible, medicinal, bird attracting or nitrogen fixing plants are grouped into sections throughout the 1 acre of green space.

Our Head Gardener picks the freshest produce daily, delivering it to our Chef to incorporate into the meals of our guest’s enjoyment.

Relax + Breathe

As you enter the Edible Forest, you will take a deep breath, breathe in the fresh air, breath out and start to relax. It’s just what gardens do – simply by being in them.

Watch as busy bees buzz from one flower to the next, learn the benefits of the plants (some will be known to you, others will be new) and Be Happy, Be Healthy + Be Inspired.

Health + Wellbeing Benefits

Health + wellbeing have never been as important as they are now. Take a ‘Tour, Taste & Educate’ experience in our Edible Forest, hosted by a member of our team, who will guide you through the seasonal offerings, explaining the medicinal elements of specific plants and how you can incorporate them into your daily meals at home.

The Nursery

The Edible Forest Nursery offers a selection of unique plants for you to take home and grow in your own garden. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff will be able to explain the benefits and planting conditions for each plant. Our range includes seedlings you wouldn’t find in your normal nursery – so if you want interesting plants, come and take a look at the Nursery. Also offering a range of preserves (made from the EF Harvest), sustainable items and our worm ‘tea’ fertilising liquid.

Harvest Hub

The Harvest Hub is our portable learning kitchen, we offer a range of classes that allow you to take your interest further, learning new skills and ensuring your garden harvest lasts longer than just the season. Yes, they are repurposed shipping containers, with reclaimed windows and kitchen equipment – ensuring sustainability in all that we do!

Nature-based activities are high on peoples ‘dreaming’ list after Isolation.

Make this one of your ‘must do’ activities.

Be Happy, Be Healthy, Be Inspired
